If you have ever received a massage in the past, you are well aware of the benefits.  It puts you into a completely relaxed setting while relieving any tense muscles or stress you may have bottled up.  An aromatherapy massage couples the benefits of massage therapy with the use of essential oils.

Essential oils are an aromatic essence that is distilled from a single botanical source.  It is most well known for its stimulating and analgesic properties.  These oils can have a number of different therapeutic uses if applied correctly.  Its overall effects can diverge to the mind, body and spirit.

There are several benefits of aromatherapy massage.  It can be an effective way of inducing relaxation, getting rid of stress, all while ensuing a clean and healthy lifestyle.  As with any other massage you may receive, it is going to affect the entire body as a whole while particularly focusing on the circulatory, musculoskeletal, and nervous systems.

The problem with a typical massage is that it only affects the physical pain or aches you may be experiencing.  With an aromatherapy massage therapy, you are going to be treated for all of the stress as well through the use of essential oils.  This is important as stress can cause a number of chronic problems including digestive problems, migraines, backache and muscle tension.

On your first aromatherapy massage visit, expect to provide the therapist with in-depth information regarding your health and overall well-being.  This includes how you are feeling physically, emotionally, and any stress that may be contributing to physical pains.  The more you inform your therapist of, the better they will be able to treat you.

From there, the therapist will identify the problems and treat you with a blend of oils to relax and calm you.  This blend of oils will also be added to carrier oil that will be used during the massage.  During the massage itself, the essential oils are inhaled and absorbed through the nose and mouth to help stimulate relaxation providing beneficial mental and emotional affects.

It is the essential oils that separate any other massage from an aromatherapy massage.  By inhaling and absorbing the oils, you will be able to relax completely and eliminate any bottled up stress you may have.  From there, you will also have the physical stress eliminated with the regular massage.  After an hour session you will be on your way feeling far better than you were before.
