Tory Island, Co. Donegal from Balor's Fort Another image from the TG4 programme 'I bhFocas', this was made on Tory Island from the prominence on the eastern end of the island known as Balor's Fort.
This is the highest point on the island and has a narrow choke point separating it from the rest, making it a natural strong point. It was from here that the mythical Balor of the Evil Eye defended himself and the island from all attackers.
The view here is to the west, with the island stretching away into the distance. The lighthouse on the western end can just be made out in the distance as a sunburst illuminates the Western Village.
This image was made on an camera modified to take pictures in the infra-red part of the spectrum, which lends a certain brooding sense to this scene, which suits the atmosphere of the Fort. Nocturne, Gougane Barra, Co. Cork This image was made on a beautiful still evening - one of a very few we got in the late summer of 2008!
It captures the peace and serenity of this wonderful location - St. Finbar's Oratory on the island in Lough Gougane Barra.
Made with an ultra-high resolution digital camera using a 40 megapixel sensor, the detail in a large print of this image is really superb. Printing and Framing Service I've just launched a professional print bureau service for photographers and other artists. In particular if you're based in the southwest, there aren't many choices for high-end professional printing. I offer a convenient one-stop shop for large format printing and framing.
I print on a variety of fine art media, including Hahnemuhle Photo Rag, Photo Rag Baryta and Daguerre Canvas. Framing and canvas stretching are available as well in my complete framing workshop.
For more details visit the print bureau page.
Cheers,
Peter
